Want to attach a trailer to your vehicle?

For a trailer whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 750 kg, a category D-D1 driving licence is sufficient. Otherwise a category DE-D1E driving licence is required.

Are you a professional driver?

If you are a professional driver, you will have to satisfy the professional aptitude requirements (PAC).

Theory test

You are exempt from the theory test.

Practical test

Practical driver training must be carried out with a view to obtaining a category DE-D1E driving licence.

You have the choice between practical driver training at an accredited driving school and driver training undertaken privately, covered by a provisional licence, which you can obtain from your local council on presentation of your valid category D-D1 driving licence.

An appointment for the category D practical test can be made via our customer service at 087/57.20.30 or by going to the examination centre of your choice beforehand with a valid identity document. Prepayment is no longer required for this test.
