Documents you must bring with you for the theory test:
Find your nearest examination center
Theory tests and risk perception tests are by appointment. You can make an appointment via our appointment portal or our customer service department on 087/57 20 30.
For a special session (difficulties with reading or understanding), the registration takes place in our examination centres on following days.
For your practical test, you should make an appointment at least six weeks in advance.
The choice of examination centre is entirely up to you.
Driving schools and the organisation of driving tests are governed by the regional authorities. There may be regulatory differences between the regions. The information published on our website applies to centres in Wallonia.

From the age of 18, a category A1 licence is required for drivers of motorcycles with a maximum engine capacity of 125 cc, with maximum power of 11 kW (15 hp) and a maximum power/weight ratio of 0.1 kW per kg.
For drivers aged over 20, a category A2 licence is required for motorcycles with maximum power of 35 kW (47 hp) and a maximum power/weight ratio of 0.2 kW per kg. The vehicle may not be derived from a model with more than twice its governed power.
For drivers aged over 24, a category licence A is required for motorcycles with power in excess of 35 kW. This age limit is reduced to 22 for drivers who have held a category A2 licence for at least 2 years.

Theory test A - A1 - A2
If you wish to obtain your category A1, A2 or A driving licence, you will first have to pass a theory test consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions. To pass, you need to score a minimum of 41 points out of 50.A1 practical test
If you have passed your theory test, to prepare for the practical test, you have the choice between lessons at an accredited driving school and lessons covered by a provisional licence.Practical test A2
Passed your theory test? To prepare for the practical test, you have the choice between different types of driver training. Progressive access is reserved for individuals who have held a category A1 licence for at least 2 years.Practical test A
Passed your theory test? To prepare for the practical test, you have the choice between different types of driver training. Progressive access is reserved for individuals who have held a category A2 driving licence for at least 2 years.Category AM
A category AM driving licence is required for drivers of mopeds, scooters and light motor-powered with a maximum engine capacity of 50 cc or a maximum rated power equal to or less than 4 kW (electric motors) and whose maximum speed does not exceed 45 km/h.
Remember: if you wish to take the practical test using your own vehicle, you are not allowed to drive it yourself to the examination centre!

Theory test
If you wish to obtain your category AM driving licence, you first need to pass a theory test. The test is made up of 40 multiple-choice questions. To pass, you need to score a minimum of 33 points out of 40.Practical test

A category B driving licence is required for drivers of motor vehicles with a maximum authorised mass not in excess of 3,500 kg and which are designed and built to carry a maximum of 8 passengers in addition to the driver.
Motor-driven quadricycles also come into this category.
A category B driving licence obtained before 01/01/1989 is also valid for categories BE.
The holder of a driving licence valid for category B, which does not have the code 96, may drive a combination made up of a category B vehicle and a trailer whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 750 kg. If the maximum authorised mass of the trailer exceeds 750 kg, a category B licence is sufficient, subject to the maximum authorised mass of the combination not exceeding 3,500 kg. Failing this, a specific driving licence is required.

Theory test
If you wish to obtain your driving licence, you will first have to pass a theory test. To prepare for the test, you have the choice between theory training at an accredited driving school and private driver training.Risk perception test (RPT)
Passing the risk perception test is necessary in order to take the practical test. The risk perception test is a computer-based test enabling you to measure your ability to identify risk situations in differing traffic conditions.Technical driving ability test
NEW If you wish to drive alone before your final practical test, you must pass a technical driving ability test. You must first have a valid pass certificate for your theory test and your risk perception test.Practical test
To prepare for the practical test, you have the choice between doing practical driver training at an accredited driving school or driver training undertaken privately. To be admitted for the practical test, you must have passed the theory test within the past 3 years or be exempt and have passed the risk perception test.Lists of documents you mustn’t forget to bring with you:

Candidates with comprehension or reading difficulties may sit the exam in a special session. Candidates will then be assisted by an instructor who will provide them with the explanations they need to understand the questions. The theory test can only be taken in a special session (oral) if : The candidate provides a certificate or attestation completed by a psycho-medico-social centre, special education institute, observation and guidance centre or vocational guidance centre. Deaf and/or mute candidates may also take the theory test with a sign language interpreter (only available at our Wandre test centre). Want to attach a trailer to your vehicle?
The holder of a driving licence valid for category B, which does not have the code 96, may drive a combination made up of a category B vehicle and a trailer whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 750 kg.
If the maximum authorised mass of the trailer exceeds 750 kg, a category B licence is sufficient, subject to the maximum authorised mass of the combination not exceeding 3,500 kg.
The holder of a driving licence valid for category B, which does have the code 96 (after passing tests) may drive a combination made up of a category B vehicle and a trailer whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 750 kg, subject to the maximum authorised mass of this combination not exceeding 4,250 kg.
- If the maximum authorised mass of the combination (vehicle + trailer) exceeds 4,250 kg, a category B+E driving licence is required.
- If the maximum authorised mass of the trailer exceeds 3,500 kg, a category C1+E driving licence is required.
The holder of a category B + E driving licence may drive a combination made up of a category B towing vehicle and a trailer (or semi-trailer) whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 3,500 kg.
From 01/05/2013, the holder of a category B + E driving licence:
May drive a combination made up of a category B towing vehicle and a trailer (or semi-trailer) whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 3,500 kg, on condition that the maximum authorised mass of the combination does not exceed 7,000 kg.
The holder of a category B + E driving licence issued before 01/05/2013:
May drive a combination made up of a category B towing vehicle and a trailer (or semi-trailer) whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 3,500 kg, on condition that the maximum authorised mass of the combination does not exceed 12,000 kg.
If you wish to tow a trailer whose maximum authorised mass exceeds 3,500 kg, a category C1+E driving licence is required.

Theory test
You are exempt from taking the theory test.Practical test
Practical driver training must be carried out with a view to obtaining a category B + code 96 or BE driving licence. You will have the choice between practical driver training at an accredited driving school and driver training undertaken privately, covered by a provisional licence, which you can obtain from your local council on presentation of your valid category B driving licence.Lists of documents you mustn’t forget to bring with you:
All documents must be the originals and be valid. If you are missing any documents, the test will not take place and you will automatically be charged an administrative fee of € 29.Category C/C1
A category C1 driving licence is required for drivers of motor vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of between 3,500 kg and 7,500 kg and which are designed and built to carry a maximum of 8 passengers in addition to the driver.
If the maximum authorised mass is greater than 7,500 kg, a category C driving licence is required.
Drivers of motor vehicles for carrying passengers with more than 8 seats in addition to the driver’s seat must have a category D or D1 driving licence.
For a (semi-)trailer whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 750 kg, a category C-C1 driving licence is sufficient. Otherwise a category CE-C1E driving licence is required.
If you are a professional driver, you will have to satisfy the professional aptitude requirements (CAP).

Theory test
If you wish to obtain your category C/C1 driving licence, you must first pass a theory test. The basic test is made up of 50 multiple-choice questions. The test to obtain a professional aptitude certificate (PAC) includes 50 additional questions, as well as 8 case studies and an oral test.Category C1E – CE
For a (semi-)trailer whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 750 kg, a category C-C1 driving licence is sufficient. Otherwise, a category CE-C1E driving licence CE-C1E is required.
If you are a professional driver, you will have to satisfy the professional aptitude requirements (PAC).

Theory test
You are exempt from the theory test.Practical test
To prepare for the practical test, you can choose between taking practical training at an accredited driving school or doing privately taught training covered by a provisional licence.Lists of documents you mustn’t forget to bring with you:
All documents must be the originals and be valid. If you are missing any documents, the test will not take place. You will still be charged for the cost of the test.Category D1 – D
A category D1 driving licence is required for drivers of motor vehicles for carrying passengers with 9 to 16 seats, in addition to the driver’s seat.
A category D driving licence is required for drivers of motor vehicles for carrying passengers with more than 16 seats, in addition to the driver’s seat.
For trailers whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 750 kg, a category D-D1 driving licence is sufficient. Otherwise a category DE-D1E driving licence is required.
If you are a professional driver, you will have to satisfy the professional aptitude requirements (PAC).

A category G driving licence is required for drivers of agricultural vehicles, as well as for vehicles registered as agricultural equipment, motorised cultivators or combine harvesters, produced from 01/10/1982.
Important: a category G driving licence is only valid within the territory of Belgium.

If you wish to obtain your category G driving licence, you must first pass a theory test. The test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. To pass, you must score a minimum of 33 points out of 40.Practical test
